Iranians commemorate 50th anniversary of PMOI’s formation
In the grand gathering of Iranian opposition in VIllepinte, north of Paris many things solibreted
This year’s annual rally in Paris for democracy in Iran has a special difference. It comes on the eve of the 50th anniversary of the founding of Iran’s principle democratic opposition group, the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK).
Iranians in the huge gathering on Saturday celebrated the 50th year of life for the pivotal force in the coalition National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI).
A group of young Iranians at the rally went on the stage and each read out short histories of the PMOI’s 50-year struggle against the dictatorships of the Shah and the mullahs, and each one symbolical summed up by saying “the PMOI is in me”.

The real fighters for freedom
Former vice president of the European Parliament, Alejo Vidal-Quadras is worried about Camp Liberty residents, he saluted them ...
And started his address on Iranian Grand Gathering by saluting Camp Liberty residents, calling them the real fighters of the freedom of Iranian people and the reference and the source morality and integrity for the entire world.
The chairman of the ’In Search of Justice’, ISJ, reiterated that the security of Liberty residents must be implemented and that countries which have pledged to this safeguard must carry out their pledges.
Calling on the US president Obama and the EU high representative for foreign affairs, Dr. Quadras said we must not be deceived by the mullahs and the West must not sign any agreement with this regime so long as the Iranian mullahs have not signed the NPT and destroyed their entire nuclear stock.

Speech of Maryam Rajavi In grand gathering of the Iranian resistance - Paris – 13 June 2015
In the name of God,
In the name of Iran,
In the name of Freedom,
In the name of 120,000 shining stars, the blazing flames of honor and dignity who defied the religious tyranny, and
In the name of all the unsung heroes and heroines who made the ultimate sacrifice so that others could live free; so that in the darkest hour of her history, Iran shines with stars, stands proud and cries out: “Down with the velayat-e faqih regime!”
Voice and message of Iran’s genuine owners
Elected representatives of nations around the globe,
Honorable dignitaries,
My fellow compatriots, here and all over Iran,
I sincerely extend my gratitude to you all for joining this gathering.
We have come here to convey to the world the voice and message of Iran’s rightful owners, the Iranian people.
Amid an unrelenting uproar over the Iranian regime’s ominous nuclear program and three inhuman wars in the region, we have come to say that those who are speaking on behalf of Iran are in fact the enemies of Iran and all Iranians.
The people of Iran neither want nuclear weapons, nor meddling in Iraq, Syria or Yemen, nor despotism, torture and shackles.
The people of Iran are the tens of millions of enraged teachers, students, nurses and workers who demand freedom, democracy, jobs and livelihood.
They say:
First, the velayat-e faqih regime has reached the end of the line.
Second, the only way to end the violations of human rights in Iran, the nuclear impasse, the crises in the region, and the confrontation with ISIS and terrorism, is to topple the Caliph of regression and terrorism in Iran.

Maryam Rajavi is president elect of NCRI. she leads Iranian opposition organization made the remarks in an exclusive interview with The Washington Times ahead of an annual gathering
on June 13
By Guy Taylor - The Washington Times - Thursday, June 11, 2015
Days before a major Iranian dissident rally in France, the head of the host organization says the “circumstances are ripe for regime change” in Tehran, but Washington and other Western governments are standing in the way by legitimizing the regime of Supreme Leader Sayyid Ali Khamenei through the pursuit of a nuclear deal.
“Through their policy of appeasement and giving concessions to the regime, Western governments have served as an obstacle to the regime’s overthrow,” said Maryam Rajavi, the leader of the National Council of Resistance of Iran. “In the absence of Western assistance, this regime would have fallen by now.”
Mrs. Rajavi made the remarks in an exclusive interview with The Washington Times ahead of an annual gathering that the council — an umbrella organization that members say includes more than 300 Iranian opposition groups peppered across 24 nations — is holding Saturday on the outskirts of Paris.

He calls on people across the globe to rise against “flagrant human rights violations” in Iran, particularly against the increasing executions under Hassan Rouhani.
The video calls on people to join the Iranian communities abroad in their upcoming gathering in Paris on June 13 to stop violations of human rights in Iran.
According to a statement by NCRI, Over 60 executed in 10 days by the Iranian regime.
On the recent spate of executions in Iran, Soona Samsami, NCRI's US Representative, told IBTimes India on Thursday: "The political climate of repression and censorship in Iran, coupled with lack of due process in the judiciary, create severe difficulties in finding the truth behind Iran's executions."
"However, one thing is certain: the regime continues to use the death penalty, not as a deterrent to drug abuse or to stem ordinary crimes, but as a means of inflicting terror in a young and increasing restless and enraged population," Samsami said.
Samsami also hit out at Hassan Rouhani's failure to curb human rights abuses in the country.
”Hassan Rouhani's approval of these barbaric hangings notwithstanding, there is no room for reform in a constitution with a non-representative 'Supreme Leader', and a judiciary that executed 30,000 political prisoners in a matter of months in 1988 alone. Ironically, Mostafa Pourmohammadi, one of the three people who sat on the 'death commission' that sent these political prisoners, mostly MEK members, to the gallows, is Rouhani's Justice Minister," she added.

A ‘bad’ nuclear deal with Iran would jeopardize world peace

Most people would wish that President Obama succeeds in striking a deal with Iran that will see it shut down its nuclear centres, halt uranium enrichment and give up permanently the goal of obtaining a nuclear weapon. Iran however has shown next to no signs that it will forgo its nuclear weapons program. What most of us don't know is how ordinary Iranian citizens opposed to the mullahs' regime would feel about a "bad deal" that would see Tehran cheat its way to the bomb as it stalls world powers.
Amineh Qaraee, 34, and her brother Ehsan, 28, who fled the mullahs' persecution to Norway four years ago, have a striking story. As children, they witnessed their parents’ arrest and imprisonment for supporting the People’s Mojahedin Organization (PMOI/MEK), the main moderate Muslim group opposed to Khomeini’s theocratic rule....
"When I was just one-year-old my father got arrested, and two months later my mother got arrested with me and they took us to prison. There I had to live between people who got arrested and tortured just because they wanted freedom", Amineh recounts in a moving video testimonial.
"I spent some months in prison until they let my mother deliver me to my grandparents. My mother was in prison for more than two years and my father for four years."
Soon after his release, Amineh’s father, a teacher by profession, was again arrested for his political opinions.
"Finally they informed us that they had killed my father and 30,000 other political activists even though all of them were sentenced to some years in prison, not execution”, she adds before breaking down into tears. This has prompted them to join the cause of supporting human rights and democratic change in Iran through different activities, including promoting petitions and other initiatives through facebook, twitter and youtube....

Countdown to Iran Going Nuclear

This is the real photo. It is not just a caricature. Obama doesn’t want to hear. He always pretend to know about the regime’s nuclear project but ultimately he will fail at…
Iranian opposition reported the regime’s cooperation with Korea ….
Giving Iran a nuclear capability of any of kind—‘peaceful
purposes’ or otherwise is a bad idea. And for the United States of America, who used to act as the world’s conscience, to act as the chief architect of negotiating a nuclear deal with Iran is an abomination.
“This is a bad idea. It’s a very bad deal,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his speech to the United States Congress on March 3, 2015. You know Bibi is on to something when bi-partisan members of Congress, not to mention Saudi Arabia, agree with him.
After missing two previous deadlines for a nuclear agreement, the US led negotiators, which includes United Nations Security Council permanent members Britain, China France, Russia plus Germany, announced in April they reached a “framework deal” with Iran. The deadline for finalizing this framework, built on an Iranian house of cards, is June 30th.
A deal that rubberstamps the mullah led Iranian regime of “death, tyranny, and the pursuit of jihad,” as Netanyahu described it.
Iran must “promise” to reduce the number of centrifuges used to enrich uranium into fuel for nuclear weapons from 19,000 to 6,000 and cut its stockpile of enriched uranium by 97%. The mullahs must also pledge (promise) to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to conduct inspections of its nuclear facilities, which it already declared military sites (where it builds nuclear weapons) would be off limits. Finally, if Iran “claims” it will do these things, all economic sanctions will be lifted. Easy peazie!
A little more than two weeks before the June 30th deadline to finalize the deal, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei must be salivating. Secretary of State John Kerry declared these restrictions will slowdown the time it takes for Iran to build a nuclear weapon from a few months to a year. But the deal boils down to “take Iran’s word for it,” trusting a murderous repressive regime, fearless in its quest for world domination won’t go nuclear. “If Iran cheats, the world will know,” Obama said. Not when Iran can lie about every aspect of this flimsy deal.
Iran wants carte blanche removal of economic sanctions and the US and world to butt out of its nuclear business no questions or inspections asked. What Iran wants, Iran gets with a US president Barack Obama determined to reduce America’s presence in the world.
No wonder most rational world leaders express grave concerns about this deal, if not reject it outright. National Council of Resistance of Iran will focus its annual conference “United Against Islamic Fundamentalism and Terrorism” held in Paris June 13, 2015 on the dangers of a nuclear armed Iran. Each year the conference draws lawmakers and dignitaries from more than 60 countries gather together to call for democracy in Iran and an end to its Islamic extremist regime that supports terrorism.
In April, NCRI President Maryam Rajavi testified before the House Subcommitttee on Terrorism, Non-proliferation and Trade on the rise in Islamic fundamentalism and ISIS. Mrs. Rajavi called Iran the “epicenter” of oppressive Sharia law in the Middle East. Under her leadership, NCRI alerted the world to Iran’s clandestine nuclear program.
As Obama looks forward to making history with a lawless regime, politicians across the political spectrum from the US, Europe, Canada, Middle East, Australia, Asia and Africa will meet in Paris to once gain sound the alarm on Iran. “China, Russia and Iran are taking advantage of American retreat to assert political and (perhaps eventually) military dominance over their corners of the globe,” argued the Wall Street Journal.
Notice China’s Supreme Leader Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladamir Putin are fierce supporters of the world’s most hostile regimes: Syria and Iran. Putin recently sold Iran anti-aircraft missiles. To quote Miranda in Shakespeare’s the Tempest, “O brave new world, That has such people in ’t!” We should all be afraid, very afraid of “the dangerous new world order that Mr. Obama is leaving his successor.”

let's be the voice of Iranian workers who are under the tyranny and pressure of such brutal regime
Saveh - Workers of Safa Pipe factory in the city of Saveh, Markazi province, staged a gathering on Wednesday May 10 in front of the governor’s office for the second time in recent months to protest non-payment of salaries. A frustrated worker noted negligence of government officials and said: “What would be the reaction of those who don’t want to hear our voice if they do not receive their wages for two to five months and their insurance premiums and benefits are not paid for months?”

One of my dear friends wrote me a letter from Iran and wanted me to publish in my web.
He lives in one of the largest city in Iran- Isfahan …
I have read his letter for many times which has influenced on me…
I am one of the Iranians who is under the pressure and tyranny of Iranian regime. While the number of the execution has been risen up and there is no freedom of expression, you are our voice there. We are trapped in the big prison named Iran. Sometimes we don’t have anything to eat and I remember we didn’t eat chicken for the New Rouze. This is the reality of Iran. I want to tell the governments, stop negotiating with Iran. They never stop their activities for making nuclear weapon because they see their power in. so support Iranian resistance to help Iranian people instead of wasting time with negotiating. I appreciate everyone who takes part in the Great Gathering on June 13th. I wish I could be there… but I follow you up on TV that day…

Referring to last month’s extension of the nuclear negotiations with Iran, the Iranian regime doesn’t stop their nuclear project.
Tehran’s nuclear weapons program will be continuing to do exactly the things that the whole world would not want to be doing…
The ayatollahs are on a clear path to their 30 year objective of getting deliverable nuclear weapons. The talks that have been going on have achieved nothing to slow that down!!!
If you think an acceptable agreement has been reached to protect against is the risk of violation.'
Underscoring the nuclear revelations by the main Iranian opposition; North Korean nuclear and ballistic missile experts visited a military site near Teheran.
It has revealed that seven officials from the North Korean Defense Ministry were in Iran the last week of April
And the third time in 2015 that a North Korean delegation had visited Iran!!!
Massoud Jazayeri, deputy IRGC commander said: We will not allow any visits to military sites, whether they be limited, controlled, unfree or in any other form!!!
Western powers want the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to visit military sites to check on past activities that could indicate attempts to build an atomic bomb…
France has specifically warned against the blocking of a final nuclear settlement over the issue of granting access for inspectors to all installations, including military sites.

Will the regime in Tehran fall?

There have been many resistance movements through history. Some have work, others not. No one would have foreseen the Berlin wall would fall and the Soviet Union would have disappeared. Who is confident that at some point that the regime in Tehran will also fall?
There is some reasons and must be said confidently that the mullahs’ religious dictatorship ruling Iran will not last in the 21st Century and will be overthrown. It really begs logic to expect this religious dictatorship which is the founder of terrorism and fundamentalism in the whole of the region and is seeking nuclear weapons to take international policy hostage to continue and endure. The reason is that the Iranian people reject this regime. According to official internal assessments by the regime, more than 95 percent of the Iranian people reject this regime. The mullahs are engulfed in crisis. The crisis of legitimacy, crisis of leadership [reflected in] a schism at the pinnacle of the regime, an economic crisis, the nuclear crisis and the crises in Syria and Iraq, and Yemen which have frightened and shaken the regime. And in the face of it, there is a legitimate and powerful resistance with popular base which can, with the help of the Iranian people, overthrow this regime. Thus, relying on these factors, because this resistance is the harbinger of a free, prosperous, peaceful Iran; an Iran which seeks the promotion of fraternity, equality and peace in the entire region; [a resistance] which is particularly the harbinger of a bright and democratic Islam, Right now, the region and the world is grappling with the danger of fundamentalism and this danger is growing by the day. And its antidote is a cultural one. The Iranian Resistance is the cultural antithesis this religious and fundamentalist dictatorship whose tentacles are spreading to Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, the region and the horn of Africa and is challenging the international community, facing it with a crisis. For this reason, when such a resistance with such ideals, with such a platform, with the message of freedom and democracy, gender equality, a non-nuclear Iran, in the face of a religious, fundamentalist regime, exists, this regime will be overthrown and that the Iranian people will experience freedom, democracy and equality because they are worthy of it and when that day comes, the region and world will be more secure and will not have to deal with the cancer of extremism and fundamentalism incited by this regime in different form and in different places because when its fountainhead dries up, this phenomenon will cease to exist… History has proven that whenever a nation is resolved and able to pay the price of its decision, it will certainly succeed….

Al Arabiya
June 4, 2015
Al Arabiya: Before it leaving Iraq, the United States asked Iraq to guarantee the security of Iranian refugees in Camp Ashraf, but Nuri Maliki’s forces attacked this camp several times and resorted to a massacre of the residents.
Shokriya: In Ashraf we said that Ashraf is like a mini Iran. All Iranian ethnicities are present; the Baluchis, Kurds, Fars and there really is no difference between them. Ashraf was a small size Iran and a model for the Iran of the future.
My life in Ashraf was beautiful. We had a library, stadium, swimming pool and university. I learned Arabic in Ashraf´s University in Iraq. People are close to each other and love one another. There is a fine human relationship between the people. I made many friends there, especially my dear friend Faezeh Rajabi who became one of the martyrs of the April 8, 2011 attack. She was Kurdish and had come to Ashraf from Iran.
Sabriya: I learned from my father about the resistance and I decided to come to Ashraf. I was in Ashraf for 12 years and in Camp Liberty for three years. In this process that I was in Ashraf and Camp Liberty, regrettably there were five criminal attacks by Iraqi mercenaries on the orders of Maliki and the Iranian regime. They attacked both Ashraf and Liberty. Most of my friends were killed in these attacks. Young women like Asiyeh Rakhshani, Faezeh Rajabi, Rahman Mannani, Hanif Emami and others; I don’t remember all the names now.
On April 8, or to be more exact since April 2, Maliki’s elements were ready to attack Ashraf. It was on April 2 that we faced Iraqi BMPs that came to Ashraf. Since I knew Arabic, along with a number of my other sisters, we went to talk to them and ask why they have brought these tanks to Ashraf. They said that they do not know and are just following orders and that we should ask their commanders.

Iran: 27 prisoners about to be executed
On June 6, over 20 prisoners in Ghezel Hessar Prison of Karaj were transferred to solitary confinement in preparation for their execution. The criminal special guards of the prison savagely battered and injured some of these prisoners who resisted and forcibly transferred them to the solitary confinement. The prisoners were not even given time to bid farewell to their cellmates.Additionally, on the previous day, seven prisoners condemned to death were transferred to solitary confinement in Adel-Abad Prison of Shiraz.

Obama’s approval rating sinks in new poll
The Hill-The CNN/ORC poll finds that 45 percent approve of Obama’s tenure, while 52 percent disapprove.
Those numbers reveal rising discontent with Obama’s White House since April, CNN said. Back then, 48 percent approved of the president while 47 percent did not.
The latest sampling also shows growing worries that the U.S. is heading in the wrong direction.
Pollsters found that 47 percent rate the country’s status favorably, while 52 percent do not.

A Shenandoah University student, Donya Jam entering senior in political science has expressed her strong feeling toward her parent’s home country Iran, despite the fact she hasn’t even seen that country. Donya was born and raised in the greater Washington, D.C. area. Her parents had fled their native Iran years earlier after becoming targets of the clerical regime for their active opposition to the repressive theocracy being established by Ayatollah Khomeini.
Despite the fact that her family can never safely return to Iran for as long as that regime remains in power, Ms. Jam feels a strong connection to her parents’ homeland. To that end, the young woman has campaigned tirelessly for as long as she can remember in favor of the fundamental transformation of the regime in Tehran.
Her parents have remained politically active since coming to the U.S., and Jam says that she has drawn tremendous inspiration from them. Traveling sometimes with her parents and sometimes with other members of the local activist community, Jam has attended rallies and conferences on the topic of freedom for the people of Iran, which have been held as close to home as the US capital and as far away as Germany and France.
Accompanied by her father, Jam will retrace a trip that they have both taken on a number of previous occasions when they visit Paris on June 13 for the “grand gathering” of the Iranians supporting the National Council of Resistance of Iran ( NCRI ).

A statement signed by over 220 who represent all political groups in the European Parliament expresses solidarity with the ten-point plan of the Iranian opposition leader, Maryam Rajavi, which calls for a democratic change in Iran.
In the statement sent to EU Foreign Policy Chief Federica Mogherini the MEPs said: “We express our solidarity with the ten-point plan of the Iranian opposition leader Maryam Rajavi, which calls for a democratic pluralistic republic based on universal suffrage, freedom of expression, abolition of torture and death penalty, separation of church and state, a non-nuclear Iran, an independent judicial system, rights for minorities, peaceful coexistence in the region, gender equality and commitment to Universal Declaration of Human Rights.”
Mrs. Maryam Rajavi is the president-elect of the National Council of Resistance or Iran (NCRI) a broad coalition of democratic Iranian organizations, groups, and personalities.
The MEPs condemned gross human rights violations in Iran and called on Iranian regime to “end the executions, free political prisoners, stop the repression of women and respect the rights and freedoms of the Iranian people.”
With regards to the nuclear talks on the Iranian regime’s nuclear program the statement said: “Iran needs to adhere to all UN Security Council resolutions with regard to its nuclear program and it should respond to all outstanding IAEA questions while allowing intrusive inspections of all its military and non-military sites whether declared or undeclared.”

This is the video of a young man whose father has been killed by the Iranian regime.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.), a Marine veteran who served in Iraq, is urging the Pentagon to directly provide weapons to vetted Sunni tribal fighters who were recently routed by the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), The Hill reported.
In a May 27 letter to Defense Secretary Ashton Carter, Hunter said that it is his 'firm belief' that the U.S. must arm Sunni fighters and embed U.S. special operators and coalition forces to call in airstrikes alongside Iraqi forces.
'I believe any such military support can be provided directly,' Hunter said. 'Doing so will counter both the Iranian threat and the presence of [ISIS] by enabling Sunni tribes to hold their territory.'
Hunter’s comments come after Sunni troops were pushed out of Ramadi, the capital of Anbar province, by ISIS fighters.
The same view was expressed by Sen. John McCain on Sunday as he said the surprise victory of ISIS in the Iraqi city of Ramadi highlights the need for the U.S. to send combat troops into the war-torn country.
McCain, who chairs the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Iran is a beneficiary of the current Middle East chaos, fueled in part by the ISIS.
For the Obama administration, “there is no strategy. And anybody who says there is, I’d like to hear what it is,” McCain said.
Also on CBS, Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, acknowledged that the fall of Ramadi “was a very serious setback.” But he blamed the loss on political infighting between Iraqi Shiites and Sunnis.
“Until Iraq makes the decision to fully incorporate the Sunnis, we can add more forces, we can win these battles, but they are not going to stay won,” he said.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran ( NCRI ), a Paris-based Iranian dissident group, reportedly said that a seven-person team of the North Korean Defense Ministry was in Iran in the last week of April in what was the third visit by North Korean officials in 2015, while a nine-person delegation from Pyongyang is expected to visit the country again in June, NCRI said, citing sources inside Iran.
“The delegates included nuclear experts, nuclear warhead experts and experts in various elements of ballistic missiles including guidance systems,” NCRI reportedly said, adding that the North Korean officials were taken secretly to the Imam Khomenei complex, a military site controlled by Iran’s defense ministry.
According to NCRI, the North Korean delegation met with officials at the Centre for Research and Design of New Aerospace Technology, a unit of nuclear weapons research and planning center, called the Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), which is under U.S. sanctions, Reuters reported.
NCRI, which had earlier exposed Iran’s uranium enrichment plant at Natanz, located 238 miles south of Tehran, reportedly said that the SPND unit focuses on research and manufacturing of interior parts of nuclear warheads.
“Tehran has shown no interest in giving up its drive to nuclear weapons. The weaponization program is continuing and they have not slowed down the process,” Reuters quoted Shahin Gobadi, a NCRI spokesman, as saying.
Iran and six world powers are expected to reach a final comprehensive settlement over a proposed nuclear deal by the end of June. However, several issues, including the monitoring and verifying of measures to ensure Iran does not secretly pursue a nuclear weapons program still remain to be addressed.

1. In our view, the ballot box is the only criterion for legitimacy. Accordingly, we seek a republic based on universal suffrage.
2. We want a pluralist system, freedom of parties and assembly. We respect all individual freedoms. We underscore complete freedom of expression and of the media and unconditional access by all to the internet.
3. We support and are committed to the abolition of death penalty.
4. We are committed to the separation of Religion and State. Any form of discrimination against the followers of any religion and denomination will be prohibited.
5. We believe in complete gender equality in political, social and economic arenas. We are also committed to equal participation of women in political leadership. Any form of discrimination against women will be abolished. They will enjoy the right to freely choose their clothing. They are free in marriage, divorce, education and employment.
6. We believe in the rule of law and justice. We want to set up a modern judicial system based on the principles of presumption of innocence, the right to defense, effective judicial protection and the right to be tried in a public court. We also seek the total independence of judges. The mullahs’ Sharia law will be abolished.
7. We are committed to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and international covenant and conventions, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, the Convention against Torture, and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination against Women.
We are committed to the equality of all nationalities. We underscore the plan for the autonomy of Iranian Kurdistan, adopted by the National Council of Resistance of Iran. The language and culture of our compatriots from whatever nationality, are among our nation’s human resources and must spread and be promulgated in tomorrow’s Iran.
8. We recognize private property, private investment and the market economy. All Iranian people must enjoy equal opportunity in employment and in business ventures. We will protect and revitalize the environment.
9. Our foreign policy will be based on peaceful coexistence, international and regional peace and cooperation, as well as respect for the United Nations Charter.
10. We want a non-nuclear Iran, free of weapons of mass destruction.
A glimpse at the life of Maryam Rajavi
By Unknown07:33Democratic, freedom, human rights, iran, Iranian opposition, maryam rajavi, Paris, PMOI, women rights

Name: Maryam Rajavi
Date of Birth: December 4, 1953
Place of Birth: Tehran, Iran
Marital Status: Married
Spouse: Massoud Rajavi
Year of Marriage: 1985
Education: B.S. Degree in Metallurgy from Sharif University of Technology in Tehran
Current Profession:President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI)
Children: A daughter, Ashraf, and A son, Mostafa.
Political career:-An organizer of the anti-Shah student movement, 1973-1979;
-An official of the social section of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK), 1979-1981;
-Parliament candidate, 1980;
-Joint-leader of the PMOI, 1985-1989;
-Secretary General of the PMOI, 1989-1993;
-President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), the Parliament-in-exile, 1993 to the present.
Leading the Resistance Movement:
In her new position as the President-elect of the Iranian Resistance, Maryam Rajavi, presents a formidable political, social, cultural and ideological challenge to the ruling mullahs.
Under her direction, women assumed the key positions within the ranks of the Resistance. Women make up half the members of the NCRI. They have various responsibilities in the resistance’s political, international, social and cultural affairs.
Rajavi has given extensive lectures on modern and democratic interpretations of Islam as opposed to the reactionary, fundamentalist interpretation of the religion. In her view, the most prominent distinction between these two diametrically opposed viewpoints centers around their outlook on women.
“Islam, Women and Equality” and “Women, the Force for Change” are publications based on her different speeches in conferences around the world.
She has also brought attention to Iran's rich, but endangered, artistic and cultural heritage. Many famous performers, filmmakers, artists, painters, sculptors, poets and writers have expressed their support for her platform for a free and secular Iran.
Women Against Fundamentalism
In March 2013, on International Women’s Day, Mrs. Rajavi presented her latest book, entitled “Women Against Fundamentalism” written in French. The book is a compilation of the experiences of women in the Iranian Resistance in the struggle against Islamic Fundamentalism.
Against Fundamentalism
In 1994, on the invitation of Norwegian political parties, Mrs. Rajavi visited Oslo. In a speech at the Oslo City Hall, she warned of the threats posed by the evil of theocracy and Islamic fundamentalism, whose heart beats in Tehran, adding, “Fundamentalism has become the primary threat to regional and global peace. The mullahs ruling in Iran manipulate the religious beliefs of more than one billion Muslims to expand their rule and export crisis and tension beyond Iran’s borders.”
In a June 21, 1996 speech entitled, “Women, Voices of the Oppressed,” at a conference in London’s Earls Court, Rajavi said, “The issue of women and the equality movement is linked to the struggle against reactionaries and fundamentalism. For, women are not only the pioneers in the equality movement, but also the main force for development, peace and social justice. In my view, humankind can only rid itself of the evil phenomenon of reactionary outlook and fundamentalism if women would assume their leading role in this global campaign and employ all forms of democratic struggle to shut the door to any form of appeasement and compromise with the misogynous and anti-human mullahs in Iran.”
Since 2003, regional developments (specifically the US invasion of Iraq) set the stage for the intensification of the mullahs’ aggressive policies and export of fundamentalism and terrorism. By unipolarizing their rule and escalating repression at home, the mullahs advanced their policies and moved to acquire nuclear weapons and dominate Iraq.
These developments created a new regional and international landscape, putting heavy responsibilities on the shoulders of the Iranian Resistance and its President-elect. During this period, Maryam Rajavi launched an intense campaign to challenge the fundamentalists ruling Iran and advance the cause of democracy in Iran.
In October 2003, she called for a referendum on regime change under UN auspices. But, the Iranian regime responded by more killings and the West regrettably ignored her call.
The Third Option
On December 2004, in a speech at the European Parliament, Maryam Rajavi proposed a third way, a clear prospect to resolve the Iranian crisis, which had cause anxiety on a global scale.
She said: “In response to the Iranian crisis, two options are regularly proposed: Either compromise with the mullahs’ regime, in a bid to contain or gradually change the regime. Western countries have pursued this policy in the past two decades. Or overthrowing the mullahs by way of a foreign war, similar to what occurred in Iraq. No one is interested a repeat of the Iraqi experience in Iran. But, I have come here today to say that there is a third option: Change by the Iranian people and the Iranian Resistance. With the removal of foreign obstacles, the Iranian people and Resistance would have the ability and the preparedness to bring about such change. This presents the only way to avert a foreign war. Offering concessions to the mullahs is not the alternative to a foreign conflict and will not dissuade them from pursuing their ominous intentions.”
Women’s Leadership
Mrs. Rajavi believes that women are the decisive force in the struggle for democracy in Iran. Her belief emanates from the essence of this struggle. Religious fascism relies of suppression that rests on misogyny. Only a forces that totally rejects misogyny can defeat it, namely women and men who belief in gender equality and have practiced it.
The Iran of Tomorrow
In June 2004, at a gathering attended by more than 20,000 Iranians near Paris, Mrs. Rajavi announced that the Iranian Resistance will support a ban on the death penalty after Iran has been freed from the mullahs’ tyranny.
In April 2006, Mrs. Rajavi outlined the Iranian Resistance’s viewpoints for the future of Iran in a ten-point plan during a speech in the presence of Liberal and Socialist political groups at the Council of Europe. These views include: The belief in universal suffrage as the sole criterion for legitimacy, emphasis on a pluralistic system of governance, respect for all individual freedoms, a ban on the death penalty, separation of Religion and State, full gender equality, equal participation of women in political leadership, a modern judicial system with emphasis on the principle of innocence the right to defense and due process, respect for the free market, the establishment of relations with all countries in the world, and commitment to a non-nuclear Iran.
These positions are all meant to herald the establishment of a genuine and enduring democracy in Iran, to which Mrs. Rajavi has dedicated her life. She says, “We are not fighting and making sacrifices to be able to grab onto power. We have not even set our sights on sharing power and the ability to govern. Our biggest mission is the establishment of the people’s sovereignty and democracy….” Villepente, June 2012
International Solidarity in Support of the Resistance Movement
Today, Maryam Rajavi leads the struggle for democracy in Iran. In recent years, she has directed a global campaign that encompasses the most prominent political and social personalities, former senior U.S. officials and military leaders, lawmakers and political dignitaries in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia. This global movement has achieved great success and international recognition and credibility in defense of the Iranian Resistance and its organized entity in camps Ashraf and Liberty as well as in securing the recognition of the resistance movement as in advocacy of regime change and the establishment of freedom and democracy in Iran.
In the major gathering of Iranian in June 2012 in Paris, where Mrs. Rajavi was a speaker, declarations by more than 4,000 parliamentarians from 40 countries in support of the Iranian Resistance, especially the residents of Ashraf were announced. The parliamentarians, which included majorities in the European Parliament, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and 28 national parliaments, called for the providing protection for the residents of Ashraf and Liberty and urged the international community to recognize the National Council of Resistance of Iran.
Directing a major global campaign to remove the PMOI from the terrorist list in Europe and the U.S., and exposing the behind-the-scenes deals to appease the clerical regime constitute another aspect of Mrs. Rajavi’s endeavors. These efforts led to the delisting of the PMOI in the United Kingdom in 2008 and the European Union in 2009, as well as the dismissal of terrorism charges in the June 17, 2003 dossier by a senior French Investigative magistrate in May 2011 and the revocation of the PMOI’s terrorist designation in the United States in September 2012.
